In October of 2011, Juliette Aristides was delighted to instruct a two-day intensive Master Class at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Using the 19th-century beaux arts curriculum, gain the skills to accurately and confidently draw the human figure. Learn to draw the figure's essential structure and build upon that strong foundation with a study of value and form. Gain from a demonstration of the entire drawing process, discussions, and opportunity to practice. Includes valuable advice for further study to continue making progress long after the class has ended. (From the PAFA catalogue.)
Honoring alumnus ranging from Thomas Eakins to Mary Cassat to David Lynch, the Pennsylvania Academy was once home to Ms. Aristides's studies as well-- and in the school's original Furness-Hewitt Building (a National Historic Landmark), she delivered both a slide lecture and a sold-out workshop to a group of dedicated students.
I'm realizing what draws me to your instruction and your work. There is an honest, unfragmented naturalness; form beautiful, unadorned or rather unembellished. Thanks again for the PAFA workshop....it still inspires. – Jeane S.
